Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada, has come out with a public advisory alerting UG and PG medical and dental aspirants in Andhra Pradesh to a rise in fraudulent admission claims doing the rounds on social media and through unofficial agents.
According to the university, several consultants, brokers, YouTubers, and WhatsApp/social media groups have been misleading students and parents by claiming they can arrange seats through contacts with officials or political leaders – claims the university has flatly denied, calling them attempts to cheat innocent candidates.
How the Admission Process Actually Works
NTRUHS reiterated that all State Quota admissions to UG/PG medical and dental courses happen strictly through online counselling:
- Convener Quota seats go by NEET rank, reservation norms, and candidates’ web options.
- Management Quota (B-Category/NRI) seats go by NEET rank and phase-wise web options.
No consultant or intermediary has any power to influence this process.
Red Flags to Watch For
The university listed several warning signs of fake agents, including guarantees of admission regardless of NEET rank, demands for advance payment into personal accounts, absence of a verified office address, and forged seat allotment letters carrying fake seals.
University’s Advice to Students and Parents
- Rely only on the official website, drntr.uhsap.in, for notifications, prospectus, and counselling updates.
- Never share login IDs, passwords, OTPs, or personal admission details with anyone during counselling.
- Report suspected fraud to the local police or the Cyber Crime Portal, and inform the university where needed.
The advisory, signed by Registrar Dr. T. Sai Sudheer, also flagged that preparing or circulating forged admission documents is punishable under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and the IT Act, 2000. NTRUHS maintained that every medical or dental seat is allotted strictly on merit, with no shortcuts to genuine admission.
