NMC Flags 70 Medical Colleges for Failing to Link CCTV & NVR Systems

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a list of 70 medical colleges that have failed to integrate their CCTV and Network Video Recorder (NVR) systems with the Commission’s central monitoring platform. The move is part of the regulator’s ongoing efforts to strengthen transparency, security, and compliance in medical education institutions across the country.

According to the NMC, all medical colleges are required to install and connect CCTV surveillance systems with centralized monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The Commission stated that several institutions have either not completed the integration process or their systems remain inaccessible for monitoring.

Why CCTV-NVR Integration Matters

The CCTV-NVR integration is intended to help the NMC monitor critical academic and administrative activities, including:

  • Infrastructure compliance
  • Attendance and academic functioning
  • Hospital and teaching facilities
  • Prevention of irregularities during inspections

The centralized surveillance mechanism is considered an important component of the NMC’s digital monitoring framework for medical colleges.

Colleges Asked to Take Immediate Action

The Commission has directed all listed colleges to complete the required CCTV and NVR integration without delay. Institutions that continue to remain non-compliant may face regulatory scrutiny under applicable NMC norms.

Medical colleges have also been advised to verify their connectivity status and ensure uninterrupted access to surveillance feeds through the prescribed technical standards.

NMC’s Push for Digital Compliance

The latest action reflects the NMC’s broader focus on strengthening digital governance in medical education. In recent years, the Commission has introduced several technology-driven initiatives, including biometric attendance systems, digital monitoring, and online compliance mechanisms to improve accountability across medical institutions.

How to Check the List

Medical colleges can visit the official NMC website to check whether their institution has been included in the latest list of colleges with pending CCTV-NVR integration requirements.
