Bodh Gaya: In a significant step toward bridging the gap between academia and industry in India’s rapidly expanding healthcare sector, Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Association of Diagnostics Manufacturers of India, the apex body representing the country’s in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) manufacturing industry.
The agreement was formalized through a virtual signing ceremony between Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, and Jatin Mahajan, President of ADMI. Both leaders described the partnership as a forward-looking initiative aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for students while supporting the growth of India’s diagnostics manufacturing ecosystem.
Focus on Industry-Relevant Education
Under the collaboration, industry experts from ADMI will contribute to curriculum development and deliver specialized modules for the institute’s MBA in Hospital & Healthcare Management (MBA-HHM) program. The initiative seeks to ensure that students gain practical insights aligned with the evolving needs of the diagnostics sector.
Students enrolled in the MBA-HHM program will also benefit from industry exposure through live projects, summer internships, and final placement opportunities offered by ADMI member companies. Additionally, experienced professionals from the diagnostics industry will participate in leadership lecture series, bringing real-world business perspectives into the classroom.
Joint Research and Executive Training Programs
The MoU extends beyond academic learning to include collaborative research and professional development initiatives. Both organizations will jointly develop Management Development Programmes (MDPs) designed for mid-career and senior professionals working in the diagnostics manufacturing sector.
The partnership will also facilitate the organization of national and international seminars, conferences, and industry conclaves focused on healthcare management, policy, technology, and innovation.
As part of the research agenda, IIM Bodh Gaya and ADMI will collaborate on research papers, white papers, business case studies, and consulting projects aimed at generating actionable insights for the healthcare and diagnostics industries.
Boost for MBA (Hospital & Healthcare Management) Programme
Commenting on the development, Dr. Swapnarag Swain, Chairperson of the MBA (Hospital & Healthcare Management) Programme at IIM Bodh Gaya, said the collaboration would further strengthen the programme’s focus on the medical devices and diagnostics sector.
Launched in 2023, the two-year full-time MBA-HHM programme at IIM Bodh Gaya is designed to develop industry-ready professionals for hospitals, public health organizations, pharmaceutical companies, consumer healthcare firms, medical device manufacturers, digital health enterprises, health insurance providers, and healthcare consulting organizations.
Supporting India’s Diagnostics Growth Story
The partnership comes at a time when India’s diagnostics manufacturing industry is witnessing rapid growth, driven by increasing healthcare investments, public health priorities, and the government’s push for domestic manufacturing under the broader healthcare infrastructure agenda.
By connecting management education with industry expertise, the IIM Bodh Gaya-ADMI collaboration aims to build a skilled talent pipeline capable of addressing future challenges and opportunities in the diagnostics sector.
