The controversy surrounding the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak has intensified after the United Doctors Front (UDF) urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dissolve both the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the National Medical Commission (NMC). The demand comes a day after the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exam over allegations of a nationwide paper leak.
According to reports, the doctors’ body claimed that repeated examination irregularities have damaged the credibility of India’s medical entrance system. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office, UDF Chairperson Dr. Lakshya Mittal alleged that previous NEET controversies were not handled properly, allowing similar issues to resurface again in 2026.
The NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3 across thousands of centres in India and abroad, was officially cancelled after investigators reportedly found major similarities between the actual exam paper and pre-circulated “guess papers.” Multiple agencies, including the Rajasthan SOG and the CBI, are now probing the matter.
This has also sparked political reactions across the country. Opposition leaders criticised the Centre and questioned the functioning of the NTA, while student organisations and medical associations demanded stricter accountability and reforms in national-level examinations.
Meanwhile, the NTA has maintained that the examination was conducted under strict security measures, including biometric verification, GPS tracking of question papers, and AI-based CCTV monitoring. The agency said it is cooperating with investigative authorities and will announce fresh examination dates soon.
According to NDTV article, experts believe the latest controversy may push the government toward major reforms in the examination system, especially after repeated allegations linked to national entrance exams in recent years.
