Student Leader Dilip Kumar Arrested During TRE 4 Protest in Patna, Supporters Demand Release

Student leader Dilip Kumar was arrested during a protest in Patna demanding the announcement of BPSC TRE 4 exam dates. The incident has sparked outrage among teacher aspirants and opposition leaders across Bihar.

Patna: Student leader Dilip Kumar, who has been actively leading the movement demanding the release of the BPSC TRE 4 teacher recruitment notification, was arrested by Patna Police during a protest march in the state capital. The incident has triggered sharp reactions among teacher aspirants and opposition leaders across Bihar.

According to updates shared on Dilip Kumar’s official X account, he along with three other aspirants was detained during the agitation and later sent to jail. Supporters alleged that the protesters were peacefully demanding clarity on the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) TRE 4 examination when police intervened.

The protest began near Patna College and moved towards JP Golambar, where a confrontation reportedly broke out between police and demonstrators. Videos and eyewitness accounts circulating on social media showed police detaining protesters amid heavy security deployment. Some aspirants also alleged that police used lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

On his official X account, Dilip Kumar’s supporters claimed that he and other aspirants were arrested from Gandhi Maidan police station jurisdiction and appealed to people to raise their voices regarding the issue.

Police officials stated that cases have been registered against several protesters, including student leader Dilip Kumar, over allegations of disrupting law and order during the demonstration. Reports suggest that FIRs were filed against four named individuals and thousands of unidentified protesters in connection with the agitation.

The protest was centered around the long-pending demand for the TRE 4 recruitment notification. Aspirants say they have been waiting for nearly two years for fresh teacher recruitment vacancies and examination dates. Demonstrators accused the Bihar government and BPSC of repeatedly delaying the process despite assurances.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also criticised the Bihar government over police action on teacher aspirants, calling the crackdown unfair toward unemployed youth seeking jobs.

The arrest of Dilip Kumar has now become a major talking point among Bihar’s student and employment movements, with several organisations demanding the immediate release of detained aspirants and announcement of the TRE 4 examination schedule.
