Shubman Gill Becomes Second-Fastest Batter to 3000 ODI Runs, Behind Hashim Amla

Dharamsala, June 13: India captain Shubman Gill etched his name in the record books on Saturday, becoming the second-fastest batter in history to reach 3000 runs in One Day Internationals, behind only South Africa’s Hashim Amla.

Gill achieved the milestone during the ongoing IND vs AFG ODI at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, where he is batting on 62 off 43 balls as India continued their innings.

The 26-year-old has now amassed 2953 runs (now past 3000 with today’s innings) in just 61 ODI matches and 61 innings, at an impressive average of 55.71 and a strike rate of 99.02. His tally includes eight centuries, 17 half-centuries, 334 fours and 63 sixes, with eight not-outs to his name.

Amla had previously held the record for the fastest 3000 runs in ODI cricket, a benchmark that has stood for years. Gill’s achievement underlines his rapid rise as one of the most consistent run-machines in modern white-ball cricket.
