Kashmir Girl Seerat Parvaiz Wins Admission to Harvard Business School

Srinagar: A young woman from the Konan area of Bandipora district in Kashmir has achieved a remarkable academic milestone, earning a place in the MBA programme at Harvard Business School — one of the most selective business schools in the world.

Seerat Parvaiz, daughter of Peerzada Parvaiz Ahmad Shah and Masrat Jabeen, completed her schooling at Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar before going on to earn a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, graduating with distinction.

She subsequently built a career in product management, spending three years working in Dubai. Returning to academics, she appeared for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), a decision that opened doors to some of the world’s most prestigious institutions. Beyond Harvard, she has also received admission offers from London Business School and INSEAD, and is awaiting final decisions from Stanford Graduate School of Business and MIT Sloan School of Management.

Reflecting on her journey, Seerat credited her early schooling for shaping her outlook. She said she hopes her story sends a clear message to students back home — that geography is no barrier to ambition, and that a path starting in Kashmir can lead anywhere in the world.

Her parents called the achievement the fruit of years of sustained effort, backed by strong family support and quality education.

DPS Srinagar Principal Shafaq Afshan said Seerat’s success was a testament to the academic environment the school strives to maintain, while Chairman Vijay Dhar described it as proof that students from Jammu and Kashmir are fully capable of competing and excelling at the highest levels globally.
