Patna: The investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Assistant Development Officer (AEDO) examination 2025 has intensified, with the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) uncovering signs of an organized cheating racket operating across multiple exam centres in Bihar.
According to reports, the EOU has so far arrested 38 people based on several FIRs registered in connection with the case. Investigators suspect that a well-organized gang was involved in manipulating the examination process using fake biometric verification, paper leaks, and digital communication tools.
Biometric Verification Under Scanner
The probe has reportedly focused on the role of a private agency responsible for biometric verification during the examination. Investigators found suspicious activities linked to biometric operators and supervisors deployed at various centres.
The company under scrutiny has been identified as “M/S Sai Educare Private Limited (SEPL)”. Reports claim the agency was involved in managing biometric verification and related examination operations during the BPSC AEDO examination.
Officials suspect that biometric systems meant to verify candidate identities were instead misused to facilitate cheating. In some centres, operators allegedly violated rules by carrying mobile phones inside examination halls.
WhatsApp Used to Share Question Paper
The investigation has also revealed a possible digital cheating network. According to reports, photographs of question papers were allegedly clicked at exam centres and shared through WhatsApp groups.
Investigators believe the leaked papers were sent to a “master” or solver group, where answers were prepared using artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT. The solved answers were then allegedly relayed back to candidates inside the examination halls through mobile phones operated by fake biometric staff and supervisors.
Fake Staff, Forged Rosters, and Organized Planning
EOU officials reportedly found that fake staff rosters were prepared to deploy unauthorized personnel at examination centres. Original biometric workers were allegedly removed and replaced with fake operators and supervisors trained to assist the racket.
The investigation suggests the network operated in a coordinated manner across several districts, including Nalanda and Munger. In one shocking revelation, investigators found allegations that hidden notes marked as “answers” were pasted beneath biometric machine holograms at certain centres.
Authorities are also examining the role of the examination-conducting agency and how the suspected network managed to gain access to sensitive examination processes.
Search for the ‘Mastermind’ Continues
The EOU is now trying to identify the alleged “mastermind” behind the operation. Reports suggest that the accused coordinated the paper leak and answer distribution from Patna and other districts.
Investigators are also probing links between candidates, biometric operators, supervisors, and coaching-related networks. Several suspects have reportedly been detained, while further arrests are expected in the coming days.
The case has raised serious questions over the security and transparency of competitive examinations conducted in Bihar and may lead to stricter monitoring of biometric verification systems in future recruitment exams.
