HMD has launched the Nokia 2360 Flip, a clamshell feature phone for students and older users that family members can manage remotely through a free app.
The phone has a dedicated SOS button, built-in parental controls, a removable battery and two screens.
Family Assist app
The Family Assist app is available on Google Play and the App Store. Relatives can use it to configure the phone over SMS, so the handset does not need a data plan.
They can add contacts, set reminders, change the volume and edit SOS settings. A family member can also update a doctor’s number from their own phone.
SOS button
Pressing and holding the SOS button for three seconds places a call to a preset number and sends a text message to up to five emergency contacts. Family members choose the contacts and the message in the app.
Parental controls
The controls are locked with a Family PIN and can be changed on the phone without the app. School Mode limits the phone by time of day and allows only emergency calls.
Parents can restrict calls and texts to approved contacts. They can also block apps, including the camera and games.
Screens and design
The main display measures 2.8 inches and shows large menu icons and text. A 1.77-inch outer screen shows who is calling, so users do not have to open the phone. The phone also has a loudspeaker.
Battery and colors
The phone has a removable 1,450 mAh battery. It comes in charcoal, burgundy red and teal.
