Ireland’s Debut Against India (First T20I)
In his Ireland International Cricket Team’s debut against India in the First T20I at Belfast on June 26, Moondra started his debut with a dream sequence not often witnessed in international cricket. Moondra dismissed Sanju Samson of India with the first delivery of his international cricketing career with an accurate delivery outside the off stump. He became one of the rare bowlers who could have dismissed any batsman with their debut delivery in international cricket.
Sanju Samson attempted to play the cut shot with a good-length ball but hit the ball just outside the bat resulting in dismissal via stumps. He took two wickets for 26 runs in his debut T20I appearance and was instrumental in Ireland’s historic win over India by 34 runs.
Second T20I and Historic Series Win
In the second T20I, Moondra decimated India’s opening batting line-up by dismissing Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma for back-to-back golden ducks on back-to-back deliveries. Then he bowled the captain Shreyas Iyer, having figures of three wickets for 32 runs.
During the course of the two matches series, Moondra bagged five wickets with an average of 11.6 and became the Player of the Series and Ireland’s hero during their historic 2-0 whitewash against India.
