The Selection Committee of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, has announced that the resignation portal for state medical counselling will remain open only until 5:00 PM today, October 9, 2026.
The notice, issued under Notification No. 35/SCS1(1)/2026 and dated October 8, comes after the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) published the provisional results for Round 3 of the All India Quota (AIQ) UG counselling.
Resign Without Penalty Until 5 PM
According to the notification, candidates can resign from their allotted Tamil Nadu seats without forfeiture until 5:00 PM on October 9, 2026. Resignations made after this time will result in forfeiture of the Security Deposit or Tuition Fee, as per the rules.

The window is particularly important for candidates who have been allotted a seat in the AIQ Round 3 provisional results and wish to give up their Tamil Nadu state-quota seat.
