New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to declare the result of the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026 in the third week of June, as more than 6.8 lakh students wait anxiously for their scores. The result will be available on the official portals cbseresults.nic.in and cbse.gov.in.
What Is the Second Board Exam?
This year marks a historic first for CBSE. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the board gave Class 10 students a chance to improve their scores in up to three subjects through a second board exam. Under the new “Best-of-Two” rule, only the higher of the two marks obtained will be recorded in the final result, ensuring zero risk for students seeking a higher percentage.
The second board exam was held from May 15 to May 21, 2026.
When Will the Result Be Declared?
A notice issued by CBSE in connection with the dual-exam system stated that the “Result of second examinations will be declared in the month of June.” Although CBSE has not yet confirmed the exact date, students can expect the results to be announced in the third week of June 2026 based on the board’s published guidelines.
The board has also clarified that merit certificates and passing documents will be issued only after the second exam results are declared even for students who passed in Phase 1. In the meantime, the Phase 1 result on DigiLocker can be used provisionally for Class 11 admissions.
Who Appeared for the Exam?
Over 5.25 lakh students enrolled in the improvement category to boost their scores from the February-April examination cycle, while more than 85,000 students registered under the compartment category to clear pending subjects and secure their path to higher secondary education.
How Did Students Fare in Phase 1?
The overall pass rate in the first phase of the Class 10 board exams stood at 93.70 percent, marginally higher than the 93.66 percent achieved the previous year. Girls again outperformed boys, recording a pass rate of 94.99 percent compared to 92.69 percent for boys. A total of 24,83,479 students enrolled for the first round, of whom 24,71,777 appeared for the exam.
