During raids on her residence, ₹34.5 lakh in cash, three mobile phones, two laptops, and a Scorpio car were recovered. The court has sent her to 14-day judicial custody. In this case, journalist Adarsh Jha of Amar Ujala has also been arrested for allegedly assisting her.

Shocking revelations are emerging in a ₹60 crore extortion case linked to a prominent news channel in Noida Sector-62. Investigating agencies revealed that female anchor Shazia Nisar and digital media anchor Adarsh Jha had blackmailed the channel’s CEO and Editor-in-Chief and had already extorted ₹2.26 crore.
Lifestyle and Assets:
- Shazia reportedly owns a limited-edition diamond and gold-studded mobile phone worth approximately ₹25 lakh.
- In February 2025, she purchased a ₹25 lakh Scorpio car, paid from her personal account.
- As a luxury hobby, she imported pedigree cats from abroad.
- Police investigation also revealed she bought a flat in Tilak Nagar, Delhi, documents of which are being examined.
How Were the Transactions Made?
From July 2024 to May 2025, a total of ₹2.26 crore was deposited into Shazia’s account in 8 instalments:
- July 15, 2024 – ₹3 lakh
- November 23 and 30 – ₹11 lakh each
- February 1, 2025 – ₹51 lakh
- March 10 and April 3 – ₹50 lakh each
- May 15 – ₹50 lakh in two transactions
Of this amount, over ₹30 lakh was transferred by Shazia to her associate Adarsh Jha’s account.
Jaipur Trip and Other Clues:
The investigation also revealed that Shazia and Adarsh Jha went on Jaipur trips together multiple times. Police have also obtained joint footage of them. According to sources, Shazia had planned to collect the ₹60 crore in four instalments, demanding ₹15 crore per month.
What Was the Original Complaint?
The CEO of the Sector-62 channel filed a complaint at Sector-58 police station, stating:
- Shazia Nisar, who had been working as an anchor at the channel since 2022, was blackmailing him by threatening to file a false rape case against him and also making suicide threats.
- An illegal demand of ₹60 crore was being made.
- Over the past year, Shazia had received ₹2.26 crore in installments.
- Adarsh Jha was playing the role of an accomplice in the entire matter.
Noida Police have arrested both accused and sent them to jail. Investigating agencies are thoroughly examining Shazia’s assets, bank transactions, and digital evidence.
